Tuesday, November 18, 2025(AUSTRALIA)__Ms. Roseline Kathure Njogu,CBS, Principal Secretary of the state Department for Diaspora Affairs, held a meeting with Kenyan diaspora working in the sectors of: Healthcare, Agriculture, Hospitality, Entrepreneurship, Community Service, Transport and Logistics in Australia and New Zealand.

The meeting aimed to leverage the Kenyan diaspora in understanding the various migration pathways, through first-hand experience staring- to the two countries, and tap into their networks to create labour mobility pathways.

The discussion focused on ethical recruitment practices and opportunities for Kenyan workers. Among the areas touched on were the key sectors in need of labour, different visas migration pathways' process, Curricula alignment, and partnerships.

The PS informed of the Kenyan Government's three-pronged approach to addressing unemployment of the youthful and skilled population; especially labour mobility initiatives that have been developed in order to tap into the global labour market.

While reiterating on the skilled labor which is critical in meeting Australia's market needs, the Principal Secretary attributed it to the education reforms, especially in the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions whose curricula are being tailored to meet global standards through module training and up-skilling.

Amb. Wilson Kogo, Kenya's High Commissioner, who was also present, commended the excellence of the diaspora in Australia and New Zealand. He also called for the need to be more deliberate, strategic and enhance information-sharing among the Kenyans seeking opportunities in Australia.

All parties agreed to enhance collaboration and explore partnerships around Industry-based Registered Training Organizations (RTOs) and Diaspora-owned businesses to match Kenya's talents and Australia's demands for labour.
