State Department for Diaspora Affairs

The State Department for Diaspora Affairs is one of the two state departments in the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs. The State Department for Diaspora Affairs also abbreviated SDDA was established through a directive from H.E the President Dr. William Ruto in 2022 to address issues that concern Kenya’s Diaspora community. The Government of Kenya therefore intends to engage the Kenyan Diaspora in a more constructive, inclusive and productive manner to unlock and unleash their full potential. The department derives its mandate from the Executive Order No. 1 of 2023 on Organization of the Government of the Republic of Kenya which is:

The State Department for Diaspora Affairs is committed to championing the protection of Kenya's Diaspora rights and welfare.

We strive to provide essential services and support to Kenyan diaspora members. This includes facilitating consular assistance, passport and visa services, and offering guidance on investment opportunities and entrepreneurship in Kenya. We also actively promote diaspora engagement in national development projects, encouraging diaspora members to contribute their expertise, resources, and skills to the country's growth.
