Thursday, August 6, 2026(Belgut, KERICHO) __The State Department for Diaspora Affairs, in partnership with the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS), kicked off a three-day Diaspora Job Fair in Kericho County aimed at bridging the gap between Kenyan youths and safe overseas employment opportunities.
The forum, which runs from August 6-8, 2026, at the Belgut Technical Training Institute (Belgut TTI), forms part of the government's broader Kazi Majuu program, an initiative designed to promote safe, regular, and orderly labour mobility while raising awareness about global job opportunities.
Representing Ms. Roseline Kathure Njogu, the Principal Secretary for Diaspora Affairs, Amb. Hellen Gichuhi, Secretary for Diaspora Welfare and Partnerships, opened the event with a caution to job seekers about the dangers of unaccredited recruitment agencies.
Amb. Gichuhi urged attendees to protect themselves by verifying all agencies through the National Employment Authority (NEA) portal before engaging their services, and to ensure they possess properly signed documentation before traveling abroad.
The Diaspora Mashinani initiative places particular emphasis on ethical recruitment practices, equipping participants with information to distinguish licensed agencies from fraudulent operators.
Beyond connecting residents of Kericho County and neighboring regions with global employment opportunities, the forum provide hands-on guidance on pre-departure requirements, documentation procedures, and the rights and responsibilities of Kenyan workers overseas.
Through Kazi Majuu, the government continues to build labour mobility pathways that not only safeguard diaspora workers but also facilitate skills development, access to decent jobs, and meaningful contributions to national development by Kenyans abroad.
