Monday, November 17, 2025(KUWAIT CITY)__Ms. Irene Karari, the Director and in-charge of the Skills and Expertise at the State Department for Diaspora Affairs, met with Amb. Halima Mohamud, the Republic of Kenya’s Ambassador to the State of Kuwait.
The meeting, a courtesy call by the Director on Amb. Halima in Kuwait City, centered on the welfare of the Kenyan diaspora in Kuwait and the countries which the mission is accredited to. A key point of discussion was the critical importance of comprehensive pre-departure training for the Kenyan diaspora worker force, ensuring they are well-prepared for the laws, culture, and social norms of their destination countries.
Ms. Karari met the Ambassador ahead of the Kuwait HR Excellence Conference and the launch of “Why Hire a Kenyan†Campaign – Kuwait Edition, an initiative designed to promote Kenya’s global talent brand and strengthen the country’s presence in the competitive international labour market.
The discussions focused on deepening the labour mobility cooperation between Kenya and Kuwait with particular emphasis on structured partnerships, ethical recruitment, and expanding opportunities for Kenyan professionals and skilled workers.
The meeting also underscored the Kenyan Mission in Kuwait's ongoing commitment to serving and protecting the Kenyan diaspora workforce in the region, including through frequent and accessible consular services.
Amb. Halima, who also serves as the dean of Kenyan envoys in the Middle East, was accompanied by Mr. Agabio Mutegi, Head of Chancery. Others included Ms. Jennifer Wanami, Asst. Dir.-Foreign Service, and Mr. Amir Mohamed, a Foreign Service Officer.
