DIASPORA AFFAIRS, QHALA TRUST TO PARTNER WITH NAKURU COUNTY GOV’T TO BOOST REMOTE JOB OPPORTUNITIES

Thursday, May 29, 2025(NAKURU)__Ms. Irene Karari, Director and Head of the Skills and Expertise Division, today met with H.E. David Kones, Deputy Governor of Nakuru County, and officials from Qhala Trust, an ICT firm specializing in remote work solutions.

The meeting centered on the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the State Department for Diaspora Affairs, the Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF), and Qhala Trust. This partnership aims to promote remote job opportunities and support the pilot establishment of a Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) Centre in Nakuru County.

Representing PS Roseline Njogu, Ms. Karari highlighted that this initiative is in line with Diaspora Affairs’ mission to create employment opportunities for Kenyans abroad, including digital jobs through the Kazi Mtandaoni initiative.

Deputy Governor Kones affirmed the County Government’s full support for expediting the project’s implementation to ensure its success.

Ms. Pauline Busisa of Qhala Trust reiterated their commitment to operational excellence and assured stakeholders of their readiness to streamline operations and attract more international clients, thereby expanding remote work opportunities for Kenyans.

The meeting was attended by Ms. Zipporah Wambui, CEC-Education (Nakuru); Dr. Ketyenya, Chief of Staff to the Governor (Nakuru); Mr. Leonard Kirui, County Director of ICT; and Mr. Abdilbasid Hassan, FSO. #KaziMtandaoni
