PS NJOGU, HON, KING’ARA DISCUSS STRENGTHENING DIASPORA ENGAGEMENT AND DEMOCRATIC PARTICIPATION

Thursday, April 10, 2025(NAIROBI)__Hon. Simon N. King’ara, Member of Parliament for Ruiru Constituency and Vice Chairperson of the National Assembly’s Committee on Diaspora Affairs and Migrant Workers, paid a courtesy visit to Diaspora Affairs PS Roseline K. Njogu.
The meeting focused on fostering collaboration and adopting a whole-of-government approach to address issues affecting Kenyans abroad.
Discussions highlighted the importance of aligning efforts to advance the interests of the diaspora, including voting rights and ensuring their inclusion in Kenya’s democratic processes.
PS Njogu and Hon. King’ara also reviewed the recently launched Kenya Diaspora Policy 2024, recognizing it as a critical framework for guiding government engagement with the diaspora community.
Both leaders emphasized the need for partnerships with diaspora groups to unlock opportunities and address challenges effectively.
The engagement reaffirmed the Government of Kenya's commitment to strengthening ties with Kenyans living abroad and prioritizing their welfare as well as inclusion into national development strategies.
