Friday, April 4, 2025(NAIVASHA)__H.E. Dr. Musalia Mudavadi, Prime Cabinet Secretary and CS, Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, has emphasized the importance of the Kenya Foreign Policy document as a foundational framework for enhancing the country’s diplomatic and international engagements.

He noted that the policy strengthens Kenya’s ability to implement actions that protect and promote the interests and welfare of Kenyans in the diaspora.

Dr. Mudavadi spoke during a retreat in Naivasha focused on the Kenya Foreign Policy Sessional Paper No. 1 of 2025, where he was joined by PSs Ms. Roseline K. Njogu (Diaspora Affairs), Dr. Korir SingOei (Foreign Affairs), Ms. Aurelia Rono (Parliamentary Affairs), and other dignitaries.

The PS stressed the importance of developing robust mechanisms to support Kenyans facing challenges in foreign nations while improving efficiency in diaspora-related issues to protect, engage, empower, and ensure prosperity for Kenyan citizens overseas.

The two-day retreat provides a platform for officials from the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs and members of the National Assembly’s Defence, Intelligence, and Foreign Relations Committee to deliberate on proposals outlined in the Sessional Paper, which builds on the Kenya Foreign Policy 2024.

The Sessional Paper outlines a structured framework for policy development and implementation, with a key focus on aligning with the Kenya Diaspora Policy 2024 to deepen engagement with Kenyans abroad.

Also in attendance were Hon. Nelson Koech, Chair of the National Assembly’s Defence, Intelligence, and Foreign Relations Committee; Amb.
