Friday, October 30, 2026(NAIROBI)__The Government has reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the rights and welfare of Kenyans abroad while harnessing their skills, knowledge, investments, and global networks to advance national development.

The commitment was underscored by Ambassador Ann Wanjohi, Director of the Liaison and Partnerships Division, who represented the Principal Secretary for Diaspora Affairs, Ms. Roseline Kathure Njogu, at the 3rd Annual Daring Diaspora Returnees Forum held on 30th October 2026 at Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi.

Held under the theme, “Beyond Remittances: Leveraging Returnees’ Capital, Knowledge and Skills in Propelling Kenya’s Economy,” the forum brought together diaspora returnees, Government representatives, development partners, and private-sector stakeholders to explore opportunities in investment, entrepreneurship, and skills transfer.

Discussions also highlighted the experiences of Kenyans who have returned under difficult circumstances and the need for coordinated reintegration support to enable them to rebuild their lives and contribute productively to national development.

Through the State Department for Diaspora Affairs(SDDA), the Government continues to strengthen welfare and protection mechanisms for Kenyans abroad, including emergency assistance, repatriation coordination, and psychosocial support for distressed returnees.

SDDA is also facilitating diaspora investment through the Diaspora Investment Support Office (DISO), promoting safe and coordinated international employment opportunities through the Diaspora Placement Agency (DPA), and supporting professional linkages, innovation, and skills and technology transfer.

Recognizing the invaluable contributions of diaspora returnees, the State Department remains committed to strengthening partnerships with relevant stakeholders to create a supportive environment in which returning Kenyans can reintegrate successfully and contribute meaningfully to Kenya’s socio-economic transformation.
