‘WHY HIRE A KENYAN’ CAMPAIGN WILL PROP KENYAN TALENT, SKILLS TO THE GLOBAL STAGE-PS NJOGU

February 28, 2025(MERU COUNTY)__Diaspora Affairs PS Roseline Kathure Njogu has said that ‘Why Hire a Kenyan’ campaign will elevate Kenyan talent to the global arena.

The PS emphasized that Kenya, known for its rich pool of exceptional skills and talent, has much to contribute to the global labor market, particularly in professional fields thus necessitating the roll out of the campaign.

Speaking at the launch of Kazi Majuu recruitment drive at the Meru National Polytechnic, PS Njogu highlighted the strong work ethic and adaptability of Kenyan youth, which have made them highly sought-after by employers worldwide.

She described the initiative as positioning Kenya as a premier hub for skilled professionals by showcasing their capabilities to international employers.

PS Njogu also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing unemployment among skilled youth through the three-pronged approach of Kazi Kwa Ground, Kazi Majuu, and Kazi Mtandaoni.

The PS noted that targeted government initiatives, bilateral partnerships, and the determination of Kenyan youth will narrow the unemployment gap as well as establishing Kenya as a key player in the global labor market.

At the same event, PS Mugambi Gitonga of the State Department for Forestry underscored that such initiatives align with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) by bringing opportunities directly to wananchi.

Local leaders, including MPs Hon. Rahim Dawood (North Imenti), Hon. Mugambi Rindikiri (Buuri), and Hon. Moses Kirima (Central Imenti), pledged their support for empowering youth through legislative and structural frameworks.

Earlier in the day, PS Njogu and PS Gitonga paid a courtesy call on Meru County Commissioner, Mr. Jacob Ouma, before participating in a tree-planting exercise as part of the national goal to plant 15 billion trees by 2032.

The event also featured former CAJ Chairperson, Ms. Florence Kajuju and youth drawn from Embu, Laikipia, Isiolo, Tharaka Nithi, Kitui, and Kirinyaga Counties. #KaziMajuu
