SDDA, AHK STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP ON LABOUR MOBILITY AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

Wednesday, September 17, 2025(NAIROBI, KENYA)__Ambassador Isaiya Kabira, Secretary for Diaspora Investments, Skills and Entrepreneurship, held a meeting with a delegation from the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce for Eastern Africa (AHK).

The session, led by AHK General Manager Mr. Christian Engels and Project Manager Ms. Mercy Kathuku, served as a critical working meeting for the joint technical team tasked with finalizing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on labour mobility between the State Department for Diaspora Affairs and AHK.

Discussions on the MoU, which is in its final stages, with the technical team actively reviewing and consolidating the last round of comments on the draft document. The MoU is poised to create a structured framework for connecting Kenyan skills and expertise with high-demand career opportunities in the German market.

A key focus of the meeting was also the detailed coordination of the upcoming German Job Fair, scheduled for October 14th and 15th in Nairobi. This event is a cornerstone of the partnership, designed to directly link Kenyan professionals and trainees with leading German companies seeking talent.

Accompanying the AHK team was Ms. Ellyn Chelangat, Project Assistant-TVET & Labor Mobility. Also in attendance were Dr. David Katiambo, Director in the Skills and Expertise Division; Mr. Abdilbasid Hassan, FSO; Ms. Neriah Wanjiku, FSO; and Ms. Natalie Karani.
