Tuesday, September 16, 2025(NAIROBI)__Ambassador Hellen Gichuhi, Secretary for Diaspora Welfare and Rights, held a pre-departure briefing for officers assigned to Kenyan Missions abroad.

Hosted by the Foreign Service Academy (FSA), the session focused on the new Kenya Diaspora Policy (2024) and its goal of integrating the diaspora into national development.

The training covered the diaspora's vital contributions through remittances, investment, and skills transfer, while also emphasizing the officers' role in safeguarding diaspora welfare and rights.

Key priorities discussed included international job opportunities, enhancing consular services, and fostering partnerships with diaspora associations.

Ambassador Gichuhi charged the officers to adopt a #DiasporaFirst approach in all their tasks, stating that Kenyans abroad are Kenya's primary national interest.
