INAUGURAL MEETING OF THE JOINT IMPLEMENTATION COMMITTEE ON THE

COMPREHENSIVE MIGRATION AND MOBILITY PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF KENYA AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF GERMANY

The inaugural meeting of the Joint Committee on the Implementation of the Comprehensive Partnership Agreement on Migration and Mobility between the Government of the Republic of Kenya and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany on 26 August 2025 in Nairobi was a complete success.

The Kenyan delegation, led by Diaspora Affairs Principal Secretary Roseline K. Njogu and Labour and Skills Development Principal Secretary, Mr. Shadrack Mwadime, and the German delegation, led by H.E Sebastian Groth, Federal Republic of Germany’s Ambassador to Kenya, and Dr. Joachim Stamp, Special Commissioner of the Federal Republic of Germany for Migration Agreements, praised the great trust developed between the two countries in recent years in all matters relating to migration and mobility.

Both sides are focusing on organic growth in legal migration in the areas of work, education and training. To this end, language acquisition and targeted training are to be further intensified in order to give young Kenyans in particular, the opportunity to fulfil the criteria of the German Skilled Immigration Act. The second edition of the Kenya-German job fair will be held in Nairobi in October 2025, targeting skilled and qualified Kenyan talent.

Both delegations also agreed to expand the matching process, particularly between German SMEs and Kenyan employees. To this end, the players on both sides will be networked even more closely, and attention will be paid to the high quality of cooperation.

All relevant government Ministries on the Kenyan and German sides are continuing with the dialogue. Next year, the Kenyan delegation will attend a similar meeting in Germany.

Issued in Nairobi on this 26th day of August 2025
