Tuesday, May 20, 2025(JERSEY)__Diaspora Affairs PS, Ms. Roseline K. Njogu, led a high-level delegation in a meeting with the Executive Committee of the Jersey Chamber of Commerce to explore and strengthen employment and trade relations between Kenya and Jersey.
The discussions centered on critical issues affecting Kenyan migrant workers and professionals, including the mutual recognition of academic and professional qualifications as well as addressing cultural differences through comprehensive pre-departure orientation programs among others.
Both parties recognized the significance of structured labour mobility and considered expanding opportunities beyond the construction sector to include healthcare, information technology, seafaring, and other industries.
The PS underscored Kenya’s dedication to equipping skilled workers for the global market and welcomed collaborations that promote ethical recruitment and safeguard the welfare of Kenyan workers abroad.
The Jersey Chamber of Commerce expressed keen interest in leveraging Kenya’s dynamic and youthful workforce and commended the valuable contributions of Kenyan workers currently on the island. They also emphasized the importance of ongoing dialogue to align skills training with Jersey’s labour market needs.
The delegation comprised officials from the State Department for Diaspora Affairs, representatives from the Kenya High Commission in London, and Kenyan Members of Parliament. #KenyaJerseyTies #KaziMajuu
