The State Department for Diaspora Affairs recognized the exceptional performances of its staff in various cadres of service delivery.
During the ceremony held at the SDDA offices in Nairobi, Principal Secretary Ms. Roseline Kathure Njogu, presented awards to both seasoned and young officers who have distinguished themselves in their areas of expertise.
In her remarks, the PS commended the officers for their contributions, noting that the State Department has made significant progress in establishing structures to better serve the Kenyan diaspora through their hard work.
PS Njogu highlighted several achievements, including the launch of the SDDA strategic plan, the development of the Mental Health Action Plan, the Draft Diaspora Policy 2024, and the Draft Diaspora Investment Strategy.
She emphasized the importance of fostering both collective and individual efforts, particularly among young diplomats and officers within the State Department.
Among the award recipients were officers who played vital roles in negotiating the historic comprehensive labor agreements between Kenya and Germany, as well as between Austria and Kenya.
Additionally, a team recognized for their crucial involvement in evacuating Kenyans from Sudan, Lebanon, and other conflict was honored.
The event also served to reflect on the accomplishments of the State Department two years after its establishment, with key highlights including the rollout of Mobile Consular Services, the Kazi Majuu program, hosting four regional job fairs across the country, and revitalizing diaspora engagement through public barazas and other platforms.
The team was commended for successfully hosting Diaspora Day and the inaugural Jamhuri Diaspora Awards on December 4th and 11th, respectively.
This ceremony, which doubled up as the end of year event, marked a significant milestone for the State Department as it celebrated excellence and motivated officers to continue serving the Kenyan diaspora in their various roles and responsibilities.
