Wednesday, November 19, 2025(KUWAIT CITY) – Kenya was a notable participant in the two-day HR Excellence Conference and Awards 2025, held in Kuwait, standing as the sole African nation at the international gathering.
Representing the country, the State Department for Diaspora Affairs, through Ms. Irene Karari—Director of Skills and Expertise—showcased Kenya's human capital under the banner titled titled "Why Hire a Kenyan: The Kuwait Edition."
This high-profile conference acted as a pivotal meeting for Kuwait's human resources sector, uniting top thought leaders, experts, and major stakeholders in international labour mobility. The agenda included keynote presentations, high-level panels on urgent HR issues, and interactive sessions aimed at equipping professionals for the challenges of the modern workplace.
Through its "Why Hire a Kenyan" initiative, Kenya presented the unique value of its professionals, emphasizing their strong educational background, English proficiency, renowned work ethic, adaptability, and innovative spirit. These attributes were positioned as ideally suited to the demands of Kuwait's evolving corporate landscape.
The Kenyan delegation's presence also aimed to fortify bilateral relations in labour mobility. Ms. Karari was accompanied by Mr. Ababio Mutegi, Head of Chancery at the Kenya Embassy in Kuwait, along with Ms. Jennifer Wanami, Assistant Director, and Mr. Amir Mohammed, a Foreign Service Officer.
This participation highlighted the Kenyan Government's dedication to building productive partnerships and leveraging them to safeguard the welfare of its citizens overseas. It further offered a platform for the delegation to connect with potential employers and recruitment agencies, facilitating discussions on frameworks for ethical and mutually beneficial labour mobility.
