ROUND-TABLE MEETING WITH LEGISLATORS ON REVIEW OF KENYA’S FOREIGN POLICY

Diaspora Affairs PS Roseline Kathure Njogu, joined Dr. MusaliaMudavadi, Prime Cabinet Secretary and CS, Foreign & Diaspora Affairs in a round-table meeting with the National Assembly's Defence, Intelligence, and Foreign Relations Committee during the review of Kenya’s Foreign Policy review in Nairobi.
The PCS highlighted Kenya’s diplomatic efforts, emphasizing economic empowerment for the diaspora and strengthening the country's international standing. He reiterated the Government’s focus on leveraging foreign investment to drive national development while enhancing ties with Kenyan diaspora.
PS Njogu echoed the sentiments emphasizing the invaluable resource of the Kenyan diaspora in advancing Kenya’s economic and diplomatic priorities.
“Kenya’s Foreign Policy is underpinned by a steadfast commitment to project, promote and protect the country’s interests across the globe. At the core of this policy is a recognition that the diaspora are an invaluable resource,” she remarked.
In the forum, themed “The Role of Parliament in Advancing Kenya’s Foreign Policy Agenda,” the PS noted Parliament’s crucial role in refining the foreign policy framework to safeguard Kenya’s global strategic interests.
On his part, the Committee Chairperson Hon. Nelson Koech (MP-Belgut) commended the move by the Government to revamp Kenya’s Foreign policy to fit the ever-changing global environment and geo-politics noting that adapting to new global dynamics will allow Kenya to better navigate international equations.
The Diaspora Diplomacy Pillar is a fundamental component within Kenya’s broader Foreign Policy. As such, the government through Diaspora Affairs remains committed in supporting, protecting and empowering the diaspora as ambassadors of “Brand Kenya” and as contributors to the national development.
Parliamentary Affairs PS Dr. Aurelia Rono, Members of the Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations Committee of the National Assembly, ranking members of the Foreign Service at the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs were present in the meeting.
