Monday, November 10, 2025(NAIROBI, KENYA)__Diaspora Affairs Principal Secretary, Ms. Roseline K. Njogu today, at an event at the High Commission of Canada in Nairobi, welcomed Hon. Daniel Mills, Deputy Minister, Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labor in the provincial Government of New Brunswick and his delegation to Kenya.
This visit builds upon discussions initiated during a Kenyan delegation's trip, led by PS Njogu, to New Brunswick in 2023, where both parties first explored ethical and structured pathways for skilled labour movement.
The PS acknowledged the cordial relations between Kenya and Canada, and the shared commitment to strengthening people-to-people ties and appreciated New Brunswick’s proactive engagement on skilled labour mobility and educational cooperation.
She underscored the need for the two countries to collaborate to address the labour needs in both countries especially in healthcare, education, hospitality, among others, while Kenya is combating unemployment of its youthful and skilled population.
The PS proposed the development of a Kenya–New Brunswick labour mobility framework to structure the recruitment, deployment, and welfare of Kenyan workers in critical sectors, including provisions on skills recognition and accreditation, pre-departure orientation, social protection, and labour market data exchange.
Hon. Mills expressed the interest of the Provincial Government of New Brunswick in having Kenya as a potential partner on labour mobility in a mutually beneficial platform.
To further understand the pool of talent, the New Brunswick delegation is scheduled to visit various Kenyan training institutions. These visits are intended to provide firsthand insight into the Kenyan curriculum and training models, ensuring that skills align with Canadian standards.
PS Njogu was accompanied by Ms. Irene Karari- Director and in charge of the Skills and Expertise division.
Present in the meeting was Mr. Shadrack Mwadime, Principal Secretary, Labour and Skills Development and staff from the Canadian High Commission, Nairobi.
