Tuesday, October 28, 2025(NAIROBI)__The State Department for Diaspora Affairs today participated in a pre-departure orientation training for 29 Kenyans embarking on employment opportunities abroad.

The training, conducted in Nairobi by the East African Institute of Homecare Management, aims to build a resilient and well-prepared workforce.

Ms. Emma Gicheha, Director and Head of the Welfare and Rights Division, led the session with clear emphasis on empowerment and safety. She outlined the non-negotiable rights of every employee, stating that employers are mandated to provide fundamental necessities and suitable living conditions.

She provided a clear action plan for the workers, urging them to immediately seek assistance from the Kenyan Agent, the Kenyan Embassy, the State Department for Diaspora Affairs, or their families back home if any challenges arise. Respecting the laws and culture of the host country was also highlighted as critical to their success and safety.

The director also focused on personal readiness, urging the group to inform trusted family members of their travel plans and to practice diligent financial management while abroad.

This engagement is part of the State Department's ongoing commitment to public sensitization, ensuring that Kenyans seeking opportunities overseas are equipped not just with a job, but with the knowledge their welfare and rights, and the culture of the host country.
