Tuesday, October 28, 2025(NAIROBI)__The Principal Secretary for the State Department for Diaspora Affairs (SDDA), Ms. Roseline K. Njogu, CBS, today met with the new Chief of Mission for the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Kenya, Mr. John McCue, who paid a courtesy visit to her office.
The meeting, a herald of a new chapter in a strategic partnership, centered on deepening collaboration in key areas of mutual interest. Discussions focused on enhancing diaspora management practices, promoting regular, safe, and orderly migration and labour mobility, and strengthening efforts to combat human trafficking. A key highlight was the joint implementation of the Kenya Diaspora Policy and its associated strategies.
Mr. McCue commended Kenya for its leadership role in championing the Global Compact for Migration and for establishing the State Department for Diaspora Affairs. He noted that the dedicated department positions Kenya to effectively manage emerging trends and challenges in the migration landscape.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to a strengthened partnership, agreeing to enhance cooperation in alignment with their shared mandates and strategic goals.
The meeting was also attended by Mr. Sharif Faisal, Mr. Ethan Way, Ms. Pravina Gurung, Ms. Shelmith Kiboi, Mr. Edwin Limo, Mr. Humphrey Okusimba, and Ms. Velma Mudibo.
