2ND KENYAN-GERMAN JOB FAIR, A MILESTONE MARKER FOR THE COMPREHENSIVE LABOUR MOBILITY PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT

Tuesday, October 14, 2025(NAIROBI)– The State Department for Diaspora Affairs has highlighted significant progress under the Kenya-Germany labour mobility agreement over the past year.

Diaspora Affairs Principal Secretary, Ms. Roseline K. Njogu,CBS, outlined these gains in her keynote address at the 2nd Kenyan-German Job Fair held at the Sarit Expo Center in Nairobi.

The event, attended by Mr. Alexander Fierley, the Deputy Ambassador at the German Embassy in Nairobi, and representatives from key German and Kenyan business organizations, served as a milestone marker for the Comprehensive Migration and Mobility Partnership Agreement signed one year ago.

“This job fair comes at a timely moment,” stated PS Njogu. “It gives us an opportunity to reflect on the progress made and renew our commitment to a partnership built on skills mobility, decent work, and empowerment of our diaspora.”

PS Njogu commended the Kenya-Germany relationship as a “model of constructive cooperation,” connecting opportunity with talent through safe, structured, and beneficial migration.

She emphasized that the partnership is anchored on Kenya’s Diaspora Policy, which views its citizens abroad as key contributors to national development.

To translate the agreement into action, the State Department for Diaspora Affairs has implemented and taken part in putting in place several key initiatives including; Diaspora Placement Agency-DPA, enhanced pre-departure support, strengthened collaboration, post-arrival support and language training.

PS Njogu also acknowledged the German Embassy for enhancing its consular services to process visas more efficiently.

These measures have already opened doors for Kenyan professionals in sectors like healthcare, ICT, and engineering, while simultaneously building robust systems to prevent exploitation.

Looking ahead, PS Njogu outlined a vision to broaden cooperation into emerging fields like digital technology and green energy. Further goals include aligning Kenyan Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) with global standards, promoting circular migration for skills transfer, and strengthening continuous welfare monitoring for all migrant workers.

The two-day event serves as information hub for those seeking to explore opportunities in Germany.

On his part, Mr. Fierley, the Deputy Ambassador at the German embassy in Nairobi, urged those present and potential candidates for work in Germany to verify the information about jobs on legit and known websites.

Dr. Monika Erath, representative of AHK-Delegation of German Industry and Commerce for Eastern Africa), Amb. Isaiya Kabira, Secretary for Diaspora Investments, Skills and Entrepreneurship among other officials attended the event.
