ROBOTICS SCHOLARSHIP FOR GIRLS THROUGH A KENYAN DIASPORA-LED PARTNERSHIP

Friday, October 12, 2025(NAIROBI)__In a significant step to bridge the gap in technology, the Kenya Girl Guides Association (KGGA) and the Kenyan-Diaspora founded European Business University (EBU) formally launched a pioneering robotics scholarship program for young women.

The official launch and Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony was held at the KGGA grounds on Arboretum Road, Nairobi.

Ms. Irene Karari, Director and in-charge of the Skills and Expertise Division, representing Diaspora Affairs Principal Secretary, Ms. Roseline K. Njogu,CBS, attended the event which was also used to honour the legacy of Mrs. Evangeline C. Mulli, the first African Chief Commissioner of the KGGA.

At the centre of the partnership is the Robotics for Rookies Scholarship Program. This innovative initiative is designed to empower girls aged 11 to 18 through practical, hands-on robotics education.

The program aims to do more than just introduce participants to robotics; it will equip them with critical problem-solving, teamwork, and innovation skills, laying a strong foundation for future careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).

A key component of the program is its global outlook, with successful candidates slated for placement in various sectors abroad, providing them with invaluable international exposure.

The collaboration is the brainchild of Prof. Dr. James Mulli, a Kenyan diaspora based in Luxembourg who is the founder of the European Business University. Prof. Mulli’s vision is focused on strengthening opportunities in education, leadership, and global engagement for young people in Kenya and abroad.

The ceremony was graced by Hon. Hulda Momanyi Hiltsley, a representative at the Minnesota House of Representatives, alongside the leadership and members of the Kenya Girl Guides Association.
