NATIONAL SENSITIZATION FORUM-GOVERNMENT LAUNCHES MAJOR PUSH FOR NYOTA PROJECT IN MERU COUNTY

Monday, October 6, 2025(MERU)__Diaspora Affairs Principal Secretary, Ms. Roseline K. Njogu, alongside PS colleagues, Mr. Gitonga Mugambi (Forestry) and Mr. Patrick K. Kilemi(Cooperatives) led the national sensitization forum for the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) Project at the Kamundi Hall in Meru County.

The NYOTA Project, financed by the World Bank and implemented under the leadership of President William Samoei Ruto, will enable the youth to learn, earn, and prosper.

The initiative is designed to directly reach more than 820,000 young people across Kenya, with the goal of empowering them through job creation, enterprise development, financial inclusion, and digital empowerment.

In her key note address during the stakeholders’ engagement, PS Njogu underscored the government's unwavering commitment to empowering the nation's youth through what she termed "practical, inclusive, and results-oriented interventions."

The PSs outlined the project's comprehensive four-component strategy including; Improving Youth Employability; Increasing Employment Opportunities; Youth Savings and Social Protection among others.

The forum served as a critical call to action where local leaders and other stakeholders were urged to intensify public sensitization and mobilize for more applications, particularly in areas with low uptake.

Youth seeking to benefit from the project were asked to dial *254# between 6th-12th October 2025. Similarly, those who had applied before were asked not to re-apply.

The NYOTA Project is a central pillar of the government's Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda(BETA), aiming to build livelihoods from the grassroots up. The message from Meru was clear: through collective effort, the project can be a true game-changer, lighting up the path for Kenya's next generation.

Present at the forum were elected leaders in the county, youth, opinion and religious leaders as well as officers from the National Government Administration Officers(NGAO).
