Tuesday, September 23, 2025(BRAZIL)__The State Department for Diaspora Affairs participated in the Global South Arts & Health Week (GSAHW) in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.
The international forum, a demonstration of the commitment to citizen welfare beyond borders, served as a confluence of ideas, exploring the transformative power of the arts in fostering mental health and wellness as well as provide an opportunity to absorb innovative, art-based methodologies that can be adapted to support the unique psychosocial needs of the Kenyan Diaspora.
The Department’s engagement at this global platform underscores a progressive and holistic vision for Diaspora engagement.
The forum provided a fertile ground for learning creative approaches—from music and visual arts to movement and narrative therapies—that can be integrated into the support systems offered to Kenyans living overseas.
By engaging in such dialogues, the Department actively protects the welfare of the Diaspora, exploring every avenue to enhance their quality of life. Furthermore, it strengthened global partnerships, positioning Kenya as a collaborative leader in championing a compassionate, comprehensive model of Diaspora care.
