Tuesday, September 23, 2025(NAIROBI)__The Principal Secretary of the State Department for Diaspora Affairs, Ms. Roseline K. Njogu,CBS, met with a delegation from the Forum for African Women Educationalists – Kenya Chapter (FAWEK), led by its Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Jeanette Nyanjom.
The dialogue underscored a mutual dedication to connecting the diaspora with community-level initiatives, forging a powerful alliance to advance girls' education in Kenya.
FAWEK’s focus on expanding educational access for women and girls as a cornerstone of sustainable development aligns closely with the State Department’s objective of engaging the diaspora and leveraging their skills and networks for national development.
Potential avenues for collaboration were explored, focusing on uniting FAWEK’s on-the-ground programs with the knowledge and backing of the diaspora. This includes establishing scholarship and mentorship programs that link diaspora communities with vulnerable girls.
The talks also emphasized capacity-building initiatives utilizing the expertise of diaspora educators, the mobilization of resources to enhance school infrastructure and safe learning environments, and joint advocacy campaigns to promote the value of girls' education and eliminate harmful practices that limit their potential.
The State Department reaffirmed its commitment to serving as a bridge between Kenyans abroad and local communities.
