MOBILE CONSULAR SERVICES(MCS) EXERCISE CONCLUDES IN AUSTRALIA, NEXT IS NEW ZEALAND

14th February 2025(Perth, Australia)__The Mobile Consular Services (MCS) exercise in Australia wrapped up on Thursday, serving Kenyans in Sydney (including Newcastle), Queensland (Brisbane and Sunshine Coast), and Perth.

Diaspora Affairs PS Roseline K. Njogu and Amb. Wilson Kogo, Kenya's High Commissioner to Australia, express gratitude to all who participated, receiving services ranging from birth certificates to ID card applications and passport renewals.

The State Department for Diaspora Affairs reaffirmed its core mandate of protecting and championing the rights and welfare of Kenyans abroad by providing proper documentation which is crucial for enabling work, transactions, and unrestricted travel.

Led by Mr. Alex Okitoyi, Director of Welfare and Rights, the MCS team provided on-site advice to Kenyans living, working, and studying in Australia on various consular matters.

Notable participants included a four-week-old child born to Kenyan parents in Sydney who got her first birth certificate and a first-generation Kenyan who moved to Australia in the 1980s, seeking a passport to come back to Kenya.

In Perth, the team worked until 2am at the Organization of African Communities in Western Australia in Nollamara to serve the last person on the line who was replacing his ID card and applying for a new passport.

The MCS team is now in New Zealand ready to serve Kenyans in Auckland and surrounding areas from 15th February 2025.

PS Njogu, CBS: "Where Kenyans are across the globe and in need of consular services, we will be there because it is #DiasporaFirst."
