DIGITALLY EMPOWERING THE KENYAN YOUTH FOR GLOBAL OPPORTUNITIES

There is need to equip the youth with digital skills to be able to complete globally as well as unlock opportunities in the digital economy.
Speaking in Eldoret during the Uasin Gishu Digital Opportunities Town Hall meeting, representing Diaspora Affairs PS Roseline Kathure Njogu , Ms. Jennifer Wanami, Assistant Director at the Skills and Expertise Division, said that Kenya is at a prime position to advance the tech agenda by availing the right information to the youth.
Delivering remarks on behalf of PS Njogu, Ms. Wanami reiterated the three-way approach of Government unlocking employment opportunities for the youth namely, opportunities in Kenya, opportunities online and opportunities in the Diaspora.
The Town Hall set the stage for collaboration, with stakeholders aligning efforts to empower youth through global partnerships, remote work, and digital entrepreneurship.
The event was graced byEng. John Kipchumba Tanui, PS for ICT and the Digital Economy, who reiterated Government’s commitment to drive and sustain the digital transformation in the country.
Hon. John Kiarie, MP-Dagoretti South Constituency and Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Communication, Information, and Innovation accompanied by Hon. Samuel Chepkonga, MP-Ainabkoi Constituency were also present at the first of a kind town hall engagement.
