SDDA, FIDA-KENYA TO STRENGTHEN COLLABORATION AND PARTNERSHIP

Wednesday, May 7, 2025 (NAIROBI)__Diaspora Affairs PS, Ms. Roseline K. Njogu met with the Federation of Women Lawyers in Kenya (FIDA), led by Board Chair Ms. Christine Kungu, to discuss strengthening collaboration between the State Department for Diaspora Affairs (SDDA) and FIDA Kenya in advancing and safeguarding the rights and welfare of Kenyans in the diaspora.

PS Njogu emphasized the need to establish robust legal frameworks that support not only Kenyans living abroad but also those seeking employment opportunities overseas, especially in light of increasing labour mobility and related legal hiccups.

The PS and Ms. Kungu agreed to deepen cooperation in key areas such as supporting Kenyan migrant workers, providing legal aid, combating human trafficking, enhancing public participation and legal awareness, and developing relevant policies.

Present at the meeting were Ms. Emma Gicheha, Director and Head of the Welfare and Rights Division, and officers drawn from both the SDDA and FIDA-Kenya. #DiasporaFirst
