DIASPORA ENGAGEMENT IN DOHA, QATAR

Friday, May 2, 2025(DOHA, QATAR)__Diaspora Affairs Principal Secretary, Ms. Roseline K. Njogu met with Kenyans in Doha,Qatar, on Friday evening for a diaspora engagement session.
During the event, PS Njogu engaged in open dialogue with attendees, addressing issues affecting the Kenyan community in Qatar and outlining how the government, through the Kenya Mission in Qatar, plans to respond to their needs.
She emphasized the importance of safeguarding the welfare and rights of Kenyans living in Qatar, noting that the State Department has finalized a pre-departure information booklet to assist Kenyans seeking employment in the country.
The session featured a live Q&A and was graced by Hon. Elijah Memusi Kanchory (Kajiado Central) and Hon. Rashid Juma Bedzimba (Kisauni), who serve on the National Assembly’s Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations Committee, and Diaspora Affairs & Migrant Workers Committee respectively. Both legislators pledged to support initiatives that benefit Kenyans abroad.
Hon. Kanchory, in his remarks, appreciated the Kenyan human capital calling for the leveraging of skills and knowledge to support Kenya's growth and development.
At the same function, Hon. Bedzimba stressed on Kenyans unity as a key aspect in building both self and country.
A key highlight was the official launch of the Kenyan Community in Qatar (KeCOQ), an association which will serve as an umbrella body for the over 70,000 Kenyans residing in Qatar.
PS Njogu commended those who worked to establish the association, recognizing its role in advancing the interests of the Kenyan diaspora in the region especially welfare, wellness and opportunities for empowerment.
Amb. Mohamed Nur Adan, Kenya’s Ambassador to Qatar on his part lauded the harmony of Kenyans in the country adding that the Embassy will continue to support initiatives that will enhance the unity of purpose.
