PS NJOGU-KENYAN DIASPORA HAVE A ROLE IN DRIVING THE NATION’S AI TECHNOLOGICAL PROGRESS

Thursday, March 27, 2025(NAIROBI)__Diaspora Affairs PS Roseline K. Njogu, today, joined her ICT counterpart, Eng. John Tanui at the launch of Kenya's Artificial Intelligence Strategy (2025-2030) at the Kenyatta International Convention Center (KICC) in Nairobi.

The event was presided over by Hon. William Kabogo, Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communication, and the Digital Economy.

The strategy aims to position Kenya as a leader in AI innovation within Africa and globally, focusing on addressing unique challenges in sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, and education.

PS Njogu highlighted the crucial role of the Kenyan diaspora in advancing and driving the AI ecosystem through skills transfer, investments, and technological innovations.

She emphasized AI's potential to transform industries, create opportunities, and establish Kenya as a regional AI hub.

PS Njogu also stressed the importance of diaspora returnees in contributing their expertise to drive national development through technological advancements in the national AI space.

The Kenya AI Strategy 2025-2030 is designed to guide the adoption, development, and regulation of AI technologies, fostering innovation, economic growth, and inclusive digital transformation in the country.
