NEW YORK(U.S)__The State Department for Diaspora Affairs (SDDA), took part in the second International Migration Review Forum (IMRF), held from 4-8 May 2026 at UN Headquarters in New York.
Kenya reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the Global Compact for Migration by bolstering national policies and laws that foster safe migration pathways, enhance protections for diaspora and vulnerable populations—including women, children, and trafficking victims—and safeguard rights across the entire migration cycle.
Kenya has also pursued robust regional partnerships to tackle cross-border migration issues, notably through advancing the EAC Diaspora Policy.
Diaspora Affairs ran a dynamic awareness campaign highlighting the advantages of regular migration and the dangers of irregular pathways.
Ongoing diaspora engagement and regular dialogues have boosted diaspora inclusion in national development and legislative processes, amplifying diverse voices in policy-making.
The Forum ended with the consensus adoption of the IMRF Progress Declaration.
The SDDA delegation featured Amb. Hellen Gichuhi, Secretary for Diaspora Welfare and Partnerships, and Mr. Elijah Nyakundi, FSO.
