ELECTORAL STAKEHOLDERS’ COLLABORATION WORKSHOP

JANUARY 15, 2025 (NAIVASHA)__Ambassador Hellen Gichuhi, Secretary for Diaspora Welfare and Partnership is leading a team from the State Department for Diaspora Affairs(SDDA) at the four-day technical workshop on strengthening collaboration for diaspora voting held in Naivasha from 13th to 16th January 2026.

This workshop is a direct outcome of a resolution made during a joint meeting on October 23rd, 2025, between the SDDA, State Department for Foreign Affairs(SDFA) and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). Both agencies agreed to operationalize a Technical Working Group (TWG) to coordinate all activities related to diaspora voting.

The goal of the forum is to crystallize actionable strategies that will break down historical barriers to diaspora participation which includes building a robust coordination mechanism between key agencies to ensure effective diaspora voting.

This initiative falls squarely within the SDDA’s mandate to liaise with stakeholders and promote the participation of Kenya’s global diaspora in the nation’s democratic processes.
