DIASPORA ENGAGEMENT-PS NJOGU MEETS KENYANS LIVING AND WORKING IN THE UNITED KINGDOM

Thursday, May 22,2025(LONDON)__The Principal Secretary for Diaspora Affairs, Roseline K. Njogu, met with Kenyans living and working in the United Kingdom during a diaspora engagement event at the Kenya High Commission in London.

PS Njogu underscored the importance of communication and reiterated the government’s dedication to the welfare, empowerment, and prosperity of Kenyans abroad through the comprehensive Kenya Diaspora Policy (2024).

She encouraged the Kenyan diaspora to stay actively involved in Kenya’s development, invest in their homeland, and promote Kenyan culture and innovation.

The PS also highlighted government-supported platforms that facilitate investment, job placement, and skills transfer, urging continued collaboration to unlock Kenya’s full potential. She emphasized the need for unity of purpose and shared responsibility in advancing Kenya’s progress both at home and internationally.

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Lydiah Haika, Member of Parliament and Chair of the Departmental Committee on Diaspora and Migrant Workers, encouraged the diaspora to continue serving as ambassadors for Kenya. She reaffirmed Parliament’s commitment to supporting the diaspora and acknowledged their significant role in elevating Kenya’s global profile.

At the same event, Hon. Bashir Abdullahi, Member of the Departmental Committee on Defence, Intelligence & Foreign Relations, highlighted the creation of dedicated parliamentary committees focused on the welfare and protection of Kenyans abroad. He assured attendees that Parliament is actively working to improve legislation and policies that enhance access to services and strengthen diaspora engagement.

The event brought together professionals, entrepreneurs, students, and community leaders.
